Character Name: Joshua "Jay" Guthrie
Character Age: 16
Nicknames: Jay
Codename: Icarus
Character PB: Ryan Merriman
Character Personality:
Character Quirks:
Character Strengths: Whether it's in the Guthrie genes or Jay has simply developed a solid sense of right and wrong from being responsible for his family for so long, one of his greatest strengths is knowing when something is really right and being able to fight for that with everything he has. Just as well, he is not easily swayed by lies or fads and will not follow a crowd simply because it is the "cool" thing to do. If necessary, he will follow the beat of his own drum and stand up for what he believes in, even if no one else will.
Character Weaknesses: Prone to bouts of depression, it can take a simple memory or a passing thought to sink Jay incredibly deep in his own sorrows. Also, once he has found trust in a person, he will protect and fight for them, sometimes even blindly and without regard for his own safety.
Character History / Profile: The Guthrie family was never very popular in their hometown of Cumberland, KY. Due to his family's large number of mutants the towns population wanted nothing to do with them. After Sam left to go to Xavier's school Joshua resented having to give up his musical dreams to help care for his family in the absence of his father. When Paige manifested her powers and left as well he began to have a negative attitude towards mutants. Luckily this had changed when his mutant powers developed.
Originally hiding his wings from his families he revealed them to his band and used them as a stage gimmick. Falling in love with a waitress, Julia Cabot, only brought heartache to the young mans life. The Guthries and Cabots had been feuding for years and when her father found out he attacked Joshua (now calling himself Jay) with super powered armor. Believing Jay dead, a distraught Julia dragged him to the river and sank to the bottom of it. It was at this time his mutant healing power kicked in. He awoke at the bottom of the river with Julia in his arms. Bringing her to the riverbank he discovered she was dead and attempted to kill himself but was stopped by his healing ability. Jay was found by Angel who helped him bring Julia's body back to the Guthrie home.
After trying to kill himself several more times, hoping his healing ability would fail, his mother sent him to the Xavier Institute despite his protests. Though he still doesn't approve of being away from his family, Jay is slowly adjusting to his new life at Xavier's and is finding more and more things that are truly worth living for.
Powers: Icarus has multiple powers, the most prominent of which would be the pair of wings that have grown out of his back. He is able to use his wings to fly with considerable speed and agility, or stun or knock down opponents with more force than he could do with his fists or feet. Along with his wings, Icarus has a body that is naturally adapted for flight. His bones are hollow like those of a bird, and he has nearly peak human strength since his body naturally uses all nutrients to build muscle.
Another of Icarus's powers is his healing factor. He is able to heal from wounds far more quickly than any human could. It is believed that his healing factor actually comes from his wings. Icarus's final power is superhuman vocal cords. He is able to perfectly mimic any sound that he has ever heard before, or he can use his voice to hypnotize people.
Extent Of Powers/Limitations: Jay's healing powers are not entirely perfect as there is a scar on his chest, right above his heart, that has never truly healed over. This may have to do with that fact that it was self inflicted though. Also, his healing power is only connected to his wings and if they are removed, he will no longer be able to heal himself.
Sample of Your Writing (for the desired character) Sitting on the roof of academy, Jay looked down at the few kids playing on the basketball court or walking to class. It was a nice day and he could almost imagine himself down there with a few of the other students, enjoying himself. He envied them. Their naive outlook on the world
